Technical Aspects of Web Development.

A website is the most significant element of a business, irrelevant of whether the business is a small scale, medium scale, or a large scale business. A company’s website is more than just a URL or a collection of web pages. It talks about the business, its vision, history, and its functions. But for a website to function perfectly, you need to have its technical aspects correct and working accurately.

With a website, factors like speed, visibility, and usability are the factors that can affect your business negatively or positively. There are three technical aspects to a website that decide whether the website is successful or a failure.

Page Load Time:

A website that takes eons to load is a big turn off. Hence, the speed at which your website is completely rendered and ready to have human interaction is called Page Load Time. If the page load time is very high, then the user may drop the idea of visiting your website altogether. This can hurt your website’s reputation in the digital market which can lead to poor brand image. Moreover, if your website doesn’t load in a few moments, chances are the user may jump from your website to some other website. This is called the Bounce rate. If the bounce rate is higher, which means more users are leaving your website, then it can hurt your SEO ranks. This may also cause search engines to penalize your website.

SEO Site Map:

A sitemap is a pathway for Google crawlers to crawl through so that it can index the web pages from your website. Generally, a sitemap is a tiny file that you can generate using third party tools or add-ons. This file can be handled and managed using Google Search Console/ Google Webmaster tools.
If your sitemap file is unavailable to Google bots, then there are chances that your website may get blocked or penalized. This can cause serious harm to your reputation on digital platforms and markets. Hence, it is necessary to have an SEO site map to let the search engine bots crawl through it to index the web pages on your website.

Mobile Responsive UX:

Earlier, people used to browse the Internet and websites through laptops or desktop computers. But now, more than half of the Internet traffic is received from mobile phones and handsets. A similar amount of traffic is available through people using tablets. Hence, businesses must see if their websites are mobile device friendly. This includes taking care of many aspects of their websites. As the mobile versions vary, the screen size and the configurations are also bound to change. Therefore, it is important to have a website that fits every mobile device. If your website is not mobile responsive and if it takes a user to put in a lot of effort to browse through the site, then you may lose a significant amount of traffic from mobile devices. So, to stay in good books of the customers and users, it is necessary to have a responsive design for your website.

Wrapping it up:

Initially, a website was simply a collection of related web pages that would talk about business. But now, it has become an extended identity of a business or a brand. If a website is slow, doesn’t have a functional sitemap, or is not compatible with the changing devices, then that website is bound to lose its significance. There are times when potential customers choose to interact with your business through your company’s website. In such a case, you may lose your customers. Hence, it is imperative to look at these technical aspects as far as the website is concerned.
